In this hands-on workshop, you will explore the exciting world of Linocut Printmaking! Learn how to draw, transfer, carve and print your own design, leaving with your very own carved block and custom prints.

Instructor Sarah Bogdal will take you through a historical perspective of printmaking, relief and linocut, moving on to an in-depth look at materials, and finally guiding you through the process of successful carving and printing.

Students will leave with their own carved block, three custom prints created from the block, and resourceful materials distributed in the class for ongoing reference.

No prior experience required, open to all levels.

Sarah Bogdal is a printmaker living and working in Nashville, Tennessee. Her practice is shaped by the joy of the process: every linoleum block is a visual puzzle of light, texture, and space. She earned her BFA from Watkins College of Art in 2018 and has since exhibited her work in 16 states, tabled at dozens of art markets across the Southeast, and regularly hosts workshops to recruit others into the cult that is print. Sarah's goal is for each print to lie just shy of disorienting—visually dense enough to require a second look, rewarding those who let themselves linger.   • intermediate skills and techniques of silversmithing

  • how to make (and take home) your very own sterling silver pendant necklace.

We will use torches and work with hot materials, so please wear closed toed shoes, long pants, and wear your hair up, if necessary. 

After class, you’ll go home with all of your new handmade sterling silver jewelry, a binder full of resources on suppliers, trouble shooting tips, and reference sheets for the skills you acquired in class, as well as access to Jenny’s online intermediate silversmithing course so you can refer back to video recorded content of the steps we cover in class. 

Jenny is a full-time silversmith operating her jewelry business Sedona Rose Studio from her home in the hills outside of Nashville. You can check out her Instagram, as well.

She has taught silversmithing to hundreds of students in-person and online and many of them have gone on to create jewelry businesses of their own. She wants to share her love for this trade and the fulfillment it brings with as many people as possible.

In this hands-on workshop, you will explore the exciting world of Linocut Printmaking! Learn how to draw, transfer, carve and print your own design, leaving with your very own carved block and custom prints.

Instructor Sarah Bogdal will take you through a historical perspective of printmaking, relief and linocut, moving on to an in-depth look at materials, and finally guiding you through the process of successful carving and printing.

Students will leave with their own carved block, three custom prints created from the block, and resourceful materials distributed in the class for ongoing reference.

No prior experience required, open to all levels.

All needed materials for this class will be supplied to students by The Forge.

About the instructor:

Sarah Bogdal is a printmaker living and working in Nashville, Tennessee. Her practice is shaped by the joy of the process: every linoleum block is a visual puzzle of light, texture, and space. She earned her BFA from Watkins College of Art in 2018 and has since exhibited her work in 16 states, tabled at dozens of art markets across the Southeast, and regularly hosts workshops to recruit others into the cult that is print. Sarah's goal is for each print to lie just shy of disorienting—visually dense enough to require a second look, rewarding those who let themselves linger. ** LEARN HOW TO FORGE A CHEF’S KNIFE AND TAKE IT HOME**

The Intro to Knife Forging class is a two day class.

9am-5pm, both days

Lunch is provided & beers to share after class!

In this Introduction to Knife Forging, we will focus on the fundamentals of what makes a great culinary knife. From steel type and heat treat to shaping and finishing techniques, we will set the student up with the basic knowledge and hands-on learning to get started in knife making. This is a forging class. Students will hammer, grind, and finish their blade before shaping and attaching their handle. We purposely designed this class with a maximum of 4 students so that you have dedicated one-on-one time with the instructor.

This two day, 16 hour class will consist of classroom as well as shop time. The student will walk home with an 8" Chef’s knife. Lunch at noon and beers/beverages after class will be provided.

What students should have / could bring:

  • Work clothes (non-flammable)

  • No loose clothing/hair/jewelry

  • Closed toe shoes

  • Safety Glasses

  • Respirator/Dust mask

  • Water Bottle

This project is fun and approachable, all completed without the use of moving blades. Part 1 will begin with glueing and clamping. In Part 2, the board is completed by sanding and sealing with a food-grade finish.

Beginners welcome! In this class we will learn the core skills of silversmithing over the course of one fun-filled day.

  • how to make (and take home) your very own ring with a bezel set stone

We will use torches and work with hot materials, so please wear closed toed shoes, long pants, and wear your hair up, if necessary. 

After class, you’ll go home with all of your new handmade sterling silver jewelry, a binder full of resources on suppliers, trouble shooting tips, and reference sheets for the skills you acquired in class, as well as access to Jenny’s online beginner’s silversmithing course so you can refer back to video recorded content of the steps we cover in class. 

Jenny is a full-time silversmith operating her jewelry business Sedona Rose Studio from her home in the hills outside of Nashville. You can check out her Instagram, as well.

In this entry-level class, students will discover their inner designer to create and assemble their own cutting board. Participants will learn and experiment with new skills, completing a high quality end-grain cutting board that is both a work of art, and a functional necessity.

This project is fun and approachable, all completed without the use of moving blades. Part 1 will begin with glueing and clamping. In Part 2, the board is completed by sanding and sealing with a food-grade finish.

End-grain cutting boards make a wonderful gift for any occasion, especially when you make it yourself! They are preferred by professional chefs around the world because they look beautiful and keep knives sharper.

Beginners welcome! In this class we will learn the core skills of silversmithing over the course of one fun-filled day. 

You will learn:

  • foundational skills and techniques of silversmithing

  • how to make (and take home) a set of sterling silver stacking rings

  • how to make (and take home) your very own ring with a bezel set stone

We will use torches and work with hot materials, so please wear closed toed shoes, long pants, and wear your hair up, if necessary. 

After class, you’ll go home with all of your new handmade sterling silver jewelry, a binder full of resources on suppliers, trouble shooting tips, and reference sheets for the skills you acquired in class, as well as access to Jenny’s online beginner’s silversmithing course so you can refer back to video recorded content of the steps we cover in class.

We will use torches and work with hot materials, so please wear closed toed shoes, long pants, and wear your hair up, if necessary. 

After class, you’ll go home with all of your new handmade sterling silver jewelry, a binder full of resources on suppliers, trouble shooting tips, and reference sheets for the skills you acquired in class, as well as access to Jenny’s online beginner’s silversmithing course so you can refer back to video recorded content of the steps we cover in class.

We will use torches and work with hot materials, so please wear closed toed shoes, long pants, and wear your hair up, if necessary.

Beginners welcome! In this class we will learn the core skills of silversmithing over the course of one fun-filled day.

We will use torches and work with hot materials, so please wear closed toed shoes, long pants, and wear your hair up, if necessary. 

After class, you’ll go home with all of your new handmade sterling silver jewelry, a binder full of resources on suppliers, trouble shooting tips, and reference sheets for the skills you acquired in class, as well as access to Jenny’s online beginner’s silversmithing course so you can refer back to video recorded content of the steps we cover in class.

Build Your Own Keepsake Box: Part 3

To finish your box, you should attend all class times.

During this introductory woodworking class, each student will produce a custom keepsake box with a lid, measuring roughly 9"L x 6"W x 4"H. Each project produced will be unique to each student.  Basic machining, construction, wood joinery, and wood finishing techniques will all be taught as a part of this class. Students will have the ability to choose the wood species/grain of their boxes from a wide selection. Students will learn to cut, assemble, and glue a mitered box with splines on each corner. After glued components have cured, students will be taught how to construct the lid of the box. In the final session, students will learn how to “finish the finish” and go home with their beautiful box to cherish for years to come.
