Our orientation workshop for screen printing at Groovy Print Strokes (GPS) is informative, entertaining and beginner friendly.

You and up to 7 other guests will have a good time and create some very cool merch.

The workshop begins with a general tour of the awesome facilities here at the Forge Nashville.

Woodworking, Metal Shop, Painting Studios, Digital Arts and Screen Printing. Memberships are available.

In our print workshop you will be introduced to techniques appropriate for screening on fabric, but the fundamental lessons learned are also useful for printing on paper and posters as well. Participants will learn how to design and screenprint on t-shirts and hooded merchandise without the pressure of mastering production techniques. This workshop will be fun and very informative so please bring your enthusiasm and creativity with you. After all, hasn’t everyone thought they could design a great tee shirt?!

As a participant, you will be instructed at our one-color and multi-color printing stations. We have prepared great graphics in advance and as a class we will also create a unique multi-color graphic to print and take home as one of your production pieces from the evening’s festivities.

Topics covered:

• Screen mesh, mesh count, the effects of mesh count

• How to choose a screen based on your project

• How to prep art for a screen

• Shooting art onto a screen

• Choosing your colors

• Screen Printing

• Learn to clean up and reclaim screens.

Print Media (Inks)

This orientation workshop uses plastisol (oil based) inks and proper solvents for cleaning.

Aprons provided.

Note:

As a part of the orientation, please bring your smile as we like to capture the events festivities

with photos and videos. Each participant will get to model their production, if they like.

Equipment:

(1) 4 Station, 6 Color manual rotary press

(2) 2 Station, 4 Color manual press

(1) Alpha 15 x 15 Heat Press

(1) Hix Hat Heat Press

(4) Hinged Manual Table Top Printing Stations

Each participant will create and take home (2) items. There is an up-charge for hoodies based on size, and quality.
