Create Your Own End-Grain Cutting Board Part 1

Travis E. Curtis is a Nashville native who enjoys making Windsor chairs in both traditional and modern styles. His grandfather, Edward L. Curtis, worked in the finishing department of Gibson Guitar Co. and his grandmother, Charlesie Marie Curtis, was a master carver for Davis Cabinet Co. Both grandparents instilled a love for woodworking, knowledge, and pride in craftsmanship in Travis from an early age. A lifelong amateur turned professional in 2012, he designs and builds Windsor chairs and furniture in his Whites Creek, TN workshop.

About the Instructor:
Hezekiah Gatson is a designer and maker with a background in architecture, woodworking, and product design. After earning his Architecture degree from the University of Arkansas in 2007, he began as a CAD Designer at Julian & Son’s Fine Woodworking, where he honed his attention to detail. He founded IGI Designs in 2011, offering architectural plans, later expanding into custom woodworking and product design. Hezekiah blends form and function to create lasting, thoughtful designs.

**Intro to Adobe Illustrator is a required prerequisite class for CNC 101**
After learning how to successfully create a vector file in Adobe Illustrator, this class will teach you how to operate the CNC (24” x 48” bed) and start creating!
Create Your Own End-Grain Cutting Board Part 1
Level: Beginner
Approx. Duration: 4 Hours (2 Weekly Sessions). This class is 2 parts, each a 2-hour session on consecutive Tuesdays.You must attend both dates to complete your project, and you must attend the first day in order to proceed.
Instructors: Roger Conner & Jim Womack
In this entry-level class, students will discover their inner designer to create and assemble their own cutting board. Participants will learn and experiment with new skills, completing a high quality end-grain cutting board that is both a work of art, and a functional necessity.
This project is fun and approachable, all completed without the use of moving blades. Part 1 will begin with glueing and clamping. In Part 2, the board is completed by sanding and sealing with a food-grade finish.

Introduction to Wood Turning - Bud Vase
Level: Beginner
Approx. Duration: 3 hours
Minimum Age: 10 years. 14 years and under must attend with a parent who is also enrolled.

Begin your introduction into the art of wood turning with Jared Moran of Wildland Woodworks!
We will cover the basics of the lathe, lathe tools and accessories. We will start with a discussion of various holding techniques and proper form for safety. Students will practice these new skills by turning a bud vase on the lathe which they will take home after sanding and sealing.
The maximum number of students is three, so that each student receives one on one instruction, each on their own dedicated lathe.
