HOW DO CLASSES AT THE FORGE WORK?

We are proud to offer a variety of classes taught by our community of professional makers! When you take a class at The Forge, you are learning from an experienced maker, who will share their knowledge and expertise, while guiding you through fundamental principles of a craft.

Our classes take place in our various workshops around the building. All tools and materials needed for the class are provided to you, unless otherwise noted. Some classes require students to bring particular items, or do small preparations prior to the class. Those particulars will be outlined in a preparation e-mail sent 2-3 days before your class date.

We are excited to have all kinds of people from all skill levels to learn with us! Class listings outline any prerequisite, or age requirements associated with the class, but if you have any questions, you can contact The Forge’s Director of Eduction, Boogie Rocco via e-mail at boogie@theforgenashville.org for assistance.

Most classes have a limit of 5-10 students, keeping the lessons focused and ensuring everyone gets personal attention.

WHY ARE YOUR CLASSES SO EXPENSIVE?

We work with a variety of skilled and professional makers, who work hard to create these amazing classes!

The Forge offers a premium experience where students have the opportunity to learn a truly unique skill from a well seasoned instructor in an environment that allows for lots of individual attention. We keep classes small and in most cases, you will leave with a beautifully finished project and resources to continue practicing your new craft.

The price of a class depends on many factors including cost of materials, duration of lessons, uniqueness of the subject, pre-class prep time etc. We ensure our instructors are compensated generously for all the time they put into creating and preparing for the class, as well as for their exceptional level of expertise.

Our Full Class Policy:

The Forge provides classes to individuals of all skill levels. Some classes may require a particular age minimum, parental accompaniment of children under a certain age, or a prerequisite. It is the responsibility of the enrollee to ensure they are meeting the requirements outlined in the class description.

All enrollees under the age of 18 are required to be accompanied to the class by a parent/legal guardian, and a liability waiver to be signed.

All classes are non-refundable and non-transferrable. As a non-profit community organization, The Forge works with instructors who are independent artists and creators. This policy is in place to protect their time and cost associated with class preparations. If you are no longer able to attend the class you signed up for, your enrollment cannot be transferred to a different class or a different date. However, you can transfer your enrollment to another person. If you have a friend, or family member who can take the class in your place, we will be happy to have them!

All attendees of classes at The Forge are required to sign a liability waiver and complete an emergency contact form prior to the start of each class. Even if you have taken a class with us before, you will fill out the waiver each time.

Some classes take place as a series, spanning 2-3 separate dates. If you miss any class dates, especially the first date, it may not be possible for the instructor to catch you up fully to complete the project. Some classes require that you attend the first date in the series in order to continue with any subsequent dates. If you miss the first class, you are forfeiting your eligibility for a refund or date transfer.

If you arrive late to your class, the instructor may not be able to catch you up fully to complete the project. Please be on time!

If you are gifting a class to another person, it is your responsibility as the giver to ensure the recipient is aware of all class policies.

Class prices are subject to change at any time and without notice.

The Forge may cancel a class at any time due to low enrollment, weather conditions, facility concerns, or any unforeseen circumstance.

If the Forge cancels a class, each enrollee will be contacted via the e-mail address on their order and issued a refund within 10 business days of being notified.

If The Forge must reschedule a class due to unforeseen circumstances:

  • Each enrollee will be notified via e-mail and/or text message that their class is being rescheduled. A new date for the class will be advised at that time, or as soon as possible.

  • Enrollees must reply to said communications either confirming their appearance at the new class date, or to request their enrollment be transferred to another future date.

  • If an enrollee does not respond prior to the new class date to either confirm or request an accommodation, but does not appear for the class on the new date, the enrollee forfeits their enrollment and will not be eligible for a refund or date transfer.

  • Enrollments cannot be transferred to a different class, only to a future date of the same class.
