Week Three- May 18th

Theme: Strength Identification

Project: Mythical Creatures

Medium: Sculpture

Materials: pipe cleaners, toilet paper rolls, cardboard, embellishments, googly eyes

Join us for an exciting Art + Wellness Workshop Series at The Forge Nashville! In this workshop we will discuss how to identify your strengths. We will then discuss how those strengths can be represented by specific animals. We will use those identified animals as inspiration for a mythical creature sculpture using found objects and various materials.

Located on Willow Street in Nashville, The Forge Nashville provides the perfect backdrop nges the way you see yourself and your creative process. This workshop is for this enriching event. This workshop offers a unique artistic experience that focuses on the creative process rather than a finished product. While you may walk away with a masterpiece the goal is to have a growth experience that chadesigned to ignite your creativity, promote stress relief, and engage in self exploration.

Whether you're a seasoned artist or a beginner looking to explore your artistic side, this workshop series is for you. Engage in hands-on art activities, guided by experienced instructors, and gain new insight into yourself while engaging in the creative process. This therapeutic experience will help you to engage in a flow (relaxed) state while connecting with yourself and others.

Instructors Bios:

Ceccily Bednash MA LMFT ATR is a visual artist, clinical art therapist, licensed marriage and family therapist, arts advocate and educator. She has been making art her entire life and studied two dimensional and three dimensional design as an undergraduate obtaining her BFA. By exploring various mediums as a teaching artist and artist in residence including sculpture, painting, metal arts, casting, fiber arts and printmaking Ceccily learned to use art as a healing tool for herself and others which lead to her pursuing a masters degree in marriage and family therapy and art therapy. By using art in her clinical practice as an art therapist she has been able to identify universal themes that all people struggle with and used that information to create her current workshops. Through her passion for community building, nonprofit work and arts advocacy work Ceccily has been able to develop, fund and implement community based art+wellness programming through nonprofit partnerships in several cities throughout the United States.

Alexis Colbert ThM is an arts educator who is also a storyteller working in clay sculpture and illustration. Her lifelong artistic and spiritual practices have been essential in navigating her life as a trauma survivor. Her artwork has been exhibited locally and nationally in galleries and art shows where she has received multiple awards. She has also been the recipient of scholarships and residencies. She has taught artists in workshops in both private and community settings for 20 years. Currently, Alexis works as a studio artist and sculpture instructor at the Clay Lady Campus in Nashville Tennessee.
