This beginner friendly class is great for adults and kids as young as 8! Students will learn to solder together a squishy “Purrsheen” cat lamp that allows you to control via Wi-Fi or Home Assistant with WLED, a popular open-source LED community project.
Students will gain insight about microcontrollers, soldering, and open-source internet-controlled LED art.
All needed materials for this class will be supplied to students by The Forge.
Each student will receive a kit including all materials needed to build your Purrsheen lamp. Soldering equipment will also be provided. Optionally, students can bring their own soldering equipment and/or computer with Google Chrome.

About the Instructor:
Kody Kinzie is a Montana-based ethical hacker who specializes in teaching beginners about open-source intelligence, Wi-Fi security, and electronics. He's taught cybersecurity to millions of beginners on popular YouTube channels like Hak5, Null Byte, and SecurityFwd. He also organizes cybersecurity training, talks, and outreach events at hackerspaces and conferences around the world.
